ABOUT ME AND HOW WE STARTED OUR SHEEPADOODLE FAMILY
In mid-2009, I stumbled upon my first Sheepadoodle while perusing the
internet. The idea intrigued me. We had already established ourselves as professional, licensed and responsible breeders
of Goldendoodles and Labradoodles, as well as maintaining our line of beautiful AKC Standard Poodles. I had remembered growing
up with friends that had Bearded Collies, which were such awesome dogs, and the memory inspired me to pursue the idea a little further. I purchased as many books that I could find at the pet store, the book store and on the internet about the Old English Sheepdog to
learn as much about the breed as possible. I didn’t want to just jump into a breed without knowing more about their history,
potential health issues and temperament. In late summer 2009, we stumbled upon an ad for an Old English Sheepdog girl
near our home, and I spontaneously decided to bring her to our family. Fuzzy truly introduced us to the wonders of the Old English
Sheepdog breed. However, since we were unable to obtain satisfactory background for Fuzzy, we decided it was best to find her
a permanent pet home. We believed that her life had been improved when joining our family, and we wanted her to continue
to have a wonderful life where she could be a beloved canine companion. We are happy to say we found that for our Fuzzy,
and we know she is happy.
Although often scrutinized, and not so nicely, by the “purists” out there, we had quickly learned to love
and respect the wonderful Designer Breeds through our Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. The idea of adding the Sheepadoodles just
seemed natural for us, not to mention a bit exciting at the thought of something new and different. In reading about various
different breeds, including purebred dogs, all are believed to be developed by several other breeds to create the breed we know
now. What an awesome combination of the intelligent, agile Standard Poodle and the clownish, lovable Old English Sheepdog! Since we already had a wonderful selection of Standard Poodle parents in our program, having raised them from young puppies as well
as retaining our own line, we only needed to find our stud to begin our new venture. The idea that the Old English Sheepdog
was already a non-shedding breed like the Standard Poodle also eliminated the need to take the breed beyond 1st generation. Since our first litter, we have noticed that the coats are consistent from puppy to puppy in each litter, eliminating the concern
of whether it is “curly”, “wavy” or “fleecy” within the same litter. There is no fear of one of the puppies having more or less
shedding qualities than the other. From a breeder’s standpoint, this is a good thing!
In our diligent search for the perfect
dog to start our Sheepadoodle program, we found our beloved Yoggi, our AKC Old English Sheepdog stud, who joined our family in early
June, 2010 as a puppy. Yoggi came to us from a reputable OES breeder, who allowed us to come to her home and pick him up, as
well as meet his brother and his parents. He was such a huggable, lovable Teddy Bear! Yoggi grew up as a house dog,
and was always a very polite gentleman in the house, as well as a lovable goofball. He always had a strong desire to run with
the pack, and has become a wonderful addition to our family of doggies in the Doggy Manor.
In May of 2011, almost 2 years after
the beginning of our research to add Sheepadoodles to our breeding program, Yoggi blessed us with our first litter with our stunning
Black & White AKC registered Standard Poodle, Phany. In the fall of 2011, Yoggi sired two more litters for us with
our beautiful girl, Cricket (AKC Parti Factored Standard Poodle), and our lovely AKC Standard Parti girl, Cleo. All of
these puppies have been blessed to find their homes and the feedback has been wonderful! In November of 2011, we were once again
blessed with another beautiful litter of Sheepadoodles sired by Yoggi and our AKC Parti Standard Poodle, Emmie. Phany will have
one final litter for us in the Spring of 2012 before her retirement. We let her rest a year, as we do often with our mommies. If they are young and have recovered well from their previous litter, we will occasionally breed them on two consecutive heats, but
after which they will rest a heat. We will not breed our girls continuously from heat to heat. They need a vacation too! It provides for healthier mommies and healthier babies as well. Once again, we will never compromise the health and welfare
of our dogs in the name of profit.
We have a few young girls growing up with us to be part of our future Sheepadoodle program,
including two gorgeous AKC Old English Sheepdog girls. Their names are Ruthie and Naomi (we also have a stunning Parti Standard
Poodle stud born in the spring of 2010 who we named Boaz when he was only a few days old), and will be introducing these beautiful
girls on our website soon. They came to us when they were just 8 weeks old and like Yoggi, have grown up with our family. We are also raising two gorgeous Parti AKC Standard Poodle girls that are well boned and beautifully marked. We specifically
chose them for their qualities in producing gorgeous Sheepadoodle puppies for us in the future with Yoggi. We believe
it is very important to have our dogs raised with us, whether born here, or purchased from a reputable breeder as a puppy. This
way, we feel confident in their health and temperament while being raised at Lawpdoodle Kennel. We believe that certain
genetic testing is important in screening our parents, and all of our puppies come with a 26 month genetic guarantee…but more importantly,
a lifetime of support.
As we patiently awaited our first litter of Sheepadoodles in the time of well over a year of researching this
breed, we have noticed their popularity is spreading like wildfire. Be careful in searching for the right breeder for
your next puppy, and be sure that they took time to build upon the idea of the breed they are involved in…not just trying to quickly
capitalize on their popularity. We stand by each puppy that leaves here, and the health and welfare of our dogs and puppies
far outweighs the importance of profit. If at the end of the day, there is a little money left, it is a good feeling to be a
rewarded for the hard work we do day in and day out. Since leaving our dogs is next to impossible, it has been well over 4 years
since our last vacation. This job is not for the faint of heart or anyone that just wants to go home at the end of the
day, and collect a paycheck at the end of the week. However, as hard as this job is…. we have to love our job, and we do. We do it for the dogs and we do it for the love we are able to share with their families.
All of our Sheepadoodle puppies will come
with a full pedigree background of their parents, and we welcome you to visit us, meet the parents, and see how your puppy is raised.
May God Bless You!

The Sheepadoodle is created by crossing the purebred Old English Sheepdog
with the purebred Standard Poodle. It is considered a hybrid dog, meaning it is not purebred, however the lineage is known. Where
as the term mutt is used when a dog has an unknown lineage.
Some claim hybrid dogs are healthier, because you are mixing up the gene
pool. Many breeders of hybrids believe in what is called the heterosis effect and hybrid vigor. Vigor means, "Physical or
mental strength, force or energy."
Others disagree, claiming you are still crossing two first generation dogs. If you breed two dogs
carrying the same genetic defect, the defect will be dominant in the dog.
Regardless, of size or lineage, all dogs are a mammal of
the Canidae family, of the order Carnivora. Canis lupus familiaris, which is a domesticated subspecies of the wolf. Commonly referred
to as a canine, dogs have instincts, which we as humans have a responsibility to fulfill.
THE SHEEPADOODLE (written by Tina Law of Lawpdoodle Kennel)
The Sheepadoodle is a Designer
Dog Breed, the cross between a purebred Old English Sheepdog (OES) and a purebred Poodle, more often a medium to large size Standard
Poodle, producing a large breed dog. Unlike many Designer breeds that consist of shedding breeds, both the OES and the
Poodle are non-shedding/allergy friendly, therein producing the same in their offspring. The coats are fairly consistent in
texture among puppies within the same litter. Colors and markings vary, depending on the color and marking genetics of
the Poodle parent, but often favor the markings of an Old English Sheepdog with a predominately white face, collar and underbelly,
and the well-known black/silver Tuxedo. Most of the puppies will silver to some degree at maturity like the OES.
The typical
temperament of Sheepadoodles make excellent companions for an individual or couple looking for that perfect canine best friend, or
an active, loving family with children. The clownish, playful and loving personality of the OES, combined with the intelligence,
guarded and agile Poodle, produces the ultimate blend of two of the best known companion dog breeds. Just like their parents,
the Sheepadoodle requires regular grooming and periodic clipping to keep their gorgeous, thick and luxurious coat under control.
The coat is typically very soft to the touch with a little bit of the poodle curl. Adding a Sheepadoodle to your family will
no doubt bring many years of love and laughter.
